NOW Foods Ultrasonic Essential Oil Diffuser Review
NOW Foods has earned a reputation for creating some of the most high-quality essential oils on the market today. If you have been using essential oils for any length of time, you probably have heard of NOW Foods. But this company isn’t just restricted to essential oils. In fact, they make quite a few related products including a couple of really great diffusers. One of them is the NOW Foods Ultrasonic oil diffuser and it is a compact, well-designed unit that creates great fragrances for small spaces. This diffuser has a lot of great features and a low enough price to where you can get two or three if needed.
Coverage Area
The coverage area for this Diffuser is 250 sq. ft., which is about the size of a small office. You can use it in larger spaces and not have too much difficulty, but if you are going to use it in a very large space, or if you want the full power of the diffuser over the entire room, then you’re probably going to want to get two of these and put one on each end.
Noise Level
The noise level is pretty standard for these types of diffusers. It is around 30 dB. There are definitely quieter diffusers that are on this list, but 30 dB really isn’t that much noise. As long as you don’t put it right next to your head when you’re trying to sleep, it probably isn’t going to disturb you and you may not even notice at all.
Design & Aesthetics
When it comes to the design of this unit it is fairly simple. However, the difference between this and the wood grain unit that is manufactured by the same company is that this has several lights that are very soothing and create great mooods. You can choose which light color you want, or you can turn off the light completely.

To say that this unit is easy to program is an understatement. In fact, there are no programming options whatsoever. The way that this particular diffuser works is by operating until the water runs out, or until you decide to shut it off yourself. There are no programming options which unfortunately give you limited abilities with the unit, but it also makes it very easy to use.
Timer Options
There are also no timer options available on this particular product. Instead, you decide how long you wanted to run by how much water you put in. It holds approximately 120 mL, and for the small space that these are designed to cover, it runs for approximately four hours.
Warranty Specifications
There does not be appear there does not appear to be a specific warranty with the NOW solutions oil diffuser. Looking through the product page on the official website and through the manual for the product itself does not list a warranty but that doesn’t mean that one doesn’t exist. You can call the company to find out what general warranties they offer for their products or if there is a specific warranty that goes with this particular product.
Shut-off Automation
There is an auto shutoff mechanism that goes with this product. When you run out of water, the unit will shut off automatically because to do otherwise would burn it up and destroy it. So when the water level gets below a certain point, the unit will automatically shut off and will stay off until you add more water and restart it.
Difficulty in Changing Oils
As far as changing oils go, this unit is a little bit more difficult than some of the others that are out there because according to the manufacturer specifications, you do need to clean this particular diffuser in between uses. With many diffusers, you can simply add water to the container or at most, wipe down the inside and then fill it with water and add your essential oils but this one requires cleaning in order to keep it running properly.
Essential Oil Capacity
The essential oil and water mixture capacity for this diffuser is 120 mL. This isn’t the greatest capacity on the market – or even on this list – but it is sufficient for you to run the diffuser for about four hours and to be able to add fragrance to a room of up to 240 square feet or so.

Cleaning & Maintenance
As previously mentioned, you do have to clean this diffuser in between uses. The way that you do that is by taking it apart and rinsing the base off, and then using something like a Q-tip or cotton swab to clean the sensor of the unit and the mist disc. Because the oils are corrosive to this unit, you need to clean it before you put a different essential oil in.
Other Features & and Benefits
One of the features that haven’t been mentioned so far is that this unit is ultrasonic. What that means is that uses high-frequency ultrasonic vibrations to create a mist of very fine particles. The benefit of this particular technology is that it makes the fragrance stay in the room for quite a bit longer. In addition, this diffuser allows you to choose from six different colors, so that you can create the perfect lighting mood as well as fragrance for aromatherapy sessions or just making your bedroom look and smell great. This diffuser is also BPA free and it doesn’t use any heat so there is no chance of burning yourself.
NOW Foods Diffuser Price
Unfortunately, the price is not as good with this diffuser as with some of the others on the list that do a whole lot more. At $34.28, this is actually one of the higher priced diffusers that we have featured here. However, it does come from a company with a great reputation for making quality products and it does have everything that you really need with the diffuser.
Customer Reviews
Although this product is rated at four stars on Amazon, the reviews have really been all over the board. About half of the reviewers that purchase this product marked it as five stars and were very happy with it. But the remaining reviews are evenly distributed between one star and four stars. One of the common complaints that people had about this Diffuser was that it didn’t last for a long and that it broke or stopped working within just a couple of months. This is obviously surprising, considering that it comes from now solutions, a company well known for making quality oils.

When it comes to whether or not you should go with this diffuser, the honest truth is that there are probably better diffusers on the list of models that we have featured here and overall, in the marketplace at large. This one is a little high priced and there is a risk of it breaking in a short period of time, plus it just doesn’t have as many features as the other diffusers on this list.
